Linescan Camera

The RoadScout also incorporates a high-resolution surface imaging system.

Using artificial lighting, the imaging system is capable to producing 2.5 meter wide image of the road surface to a 1mm resolution, at speeds of up to 100km/h.  This allows more accurate assessment of the surface condition, in conjunction to macro level texture analysis.  The surface imaging is useful in combination with the GPR data, as it increases the understanding of the cause of surface deterioration.  This system will be extended to a 4.0 meter scan width mid 2010.
